Wiggins leads Stanford to Pac-10 title
Mar 11, 2008 - 5:15 AM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Candice Wiggins nearly won the Pac-10 Conference title for Stanford all by herself.Wiggins scored 30 points to lead seventh-ranked Stanford to a 56-35 victory over No. 9 California en route to the Pac-10 tournament title and an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
Wiggins was 12-of-23 from the field, including 5-of-11 from the arc. She added four rebounds and three steals while nearly outscoring Cal by herself.
Kayla Pedersen scored 13 points for Stanford (30-3).
Cal (26-6) shot 19 percent (6-of-31) from the field in the first half and trailed, 36-15, at the break. No player had more than six points for the Golden Bears.
