Riley lifts Oklahoma State past Texas
Mar 14, 2008 - 5:41 AM STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Andrea Riley and Danielle Green had 23 points apiece as No. 17 Oklahoma State held off Texas, 75-72, in the semifinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament on Thursday.Riley finished 9-of-18 from the field, including the go-ahead basket with 1:20 remaining to give the Cowgirls a 73-72 edge.
Shaunte Smith, who had 12 points and 16 rebounds, added two free throws with eight seconds left to seal the final margin.
With the win, Oklahoma State (25-6) advanced to face No. 12 Texas A&M in title game on Saturday.
Carla Cortijo and Kathleen Nash scored 14 points apiece for the Longhorns (21-12), who shot 39 percent (28-of-71) in seeing a five-game winning streak snapped.
