DePaul controls boards in win over Illinois-Chicago

Dec 18, 2006 - 3:48 AM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- A trio of double-doubles signaled more winning ways for DePaul.

Allie Quigley, Caprice Smith and Jenna Rubino all had double-doubles as the No. 18 Blue Demons captured their ninth straight win with a 74-65 victory over Illinois-Chicago.

Quigley scored 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out seven assists. Smith added 16 points and 11 boards and Rubino 11 and 15 for the Blue Demons (9-1), who finished with a 60-34 advantage in rebounding.

Missy Mitidiero netted 12 points for DePaul, which finished with 20 offensive boards, turning them into 18 points.

The Blue Demons have won 25 straight games against Horizon League opponents.

Despite DePaul's control of the boards, Illinois-Chicago (5-6) was able to stay close in the contest due to 30 points off 25 turnovers.

Krystal Hugelier scored 24 points and LaShonda Grant 14 for the Flames, who shot 33 percent (22-of-66) from the field and 14-of-23 (61 percent) on free throws.
