McCoughtry scores 38 to lead Louisville to 12th straight win
Dec 19, 2006 - 3:46 AM LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Angel McCoughtry scored 34 of her career-high 38 points after halftime as No. 14 Louisville posted an 80-77 victory over Butler.Jazz Covington added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Cardinals, who continued the best start in school history.
McCoughtry shot 14-of-23 from the field and hauled in 12 rebounds, for Louisville, which is 34-32 in Freedom Hall over the past three seasons.
The 6-1 sophomore scored the first 14 points of the second half for the Cardinals, who shot 42 percent (30-of-72) from the field. The Baltimore native came up two points shy of the school record.
Jackie Closser scored 18 points - all on 3-pointers - and Lade Akande added 17 points for Butler, which shot 41 percent (26-of-64) and has lost four straight games.
