Mulkey captures memorable win in Baylor rout
Dec 29, 2006 - 1:39 AM WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- A balanced effort was the key to Kim Mulkey becoming the winningest coach at Baylor.Latara Darrett and Latoya Wyatt scored 13 points apiece to lead five scorers in double figures as ninth-ranked Baylor posted an 89-40 victory over North Carolina A&T.
With the Lady Bears' ninth straight win, Mulkey improved to 169-46 in her seventh season to surpass Pam Bowers, who won 168 games over 15 campaigns from 1979-94. Mulkey guided Baylor to its first national championship in 2005.
Danielle Wilson had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Bernice Mosby and Angela Tisdale scored 11 each for the Lady Bears (12-1), who shot 50 percent (17-of-34) in the first half to storm out to a 44-16 lead.
Amber Bland scored 17 points for the Lady Aggies (6-5), who committed 36 turnovers that led to 39 points.
