No. 17 DePaul wins Maggie Dixon Classic
Nov 22, 2009 - 3:59 AM CHICAGO(AP) -- Deirdre Naughton scored a season-high 24 points to lead No. 17 DePaul to 84-64 victory over San Diego and help the Blue Demons capture the Maggie Dixon Classic title Saturday night.The Blue Demons (4-0) broke open a tight game midway through the first half, using a 13-1 run over a 6-minute span on the way to a 39-26 halftime advantage.
The Toreros (2-2) sliced the deficit to 52-44 early in the second half as Sam Child hit three 3-pointers. The Blue Demons responded with 12 straight points, including a pair of 3-pointers from Jennifer Juergens for a 62-44 lead with 8:55 to play.
Child finished with 16 points while Dominique Conners and Emily Hatch each added 12.
Keisha Hampton scored 18 points, Felicia Chester had 15 points and 12 rebounds while Juergens added 10 points for DePaul.
