No. 24 Kansas puts away Northern Colorado, 81-54
Dec 6, 2009 - 9:05 PM LAWRENCE, Kan.(AP) -- Danielle McCray scored 25 points and Krysten Boogaard added 17 to lead No. 24 Kansas to an 81-54 victory over Northern Colorado on Sunday.In the first-ever meeting between the schools, Kansas (5-2) failed to dominate Northern Colorado (3-5) until late. But the Jayhawks didn't trail again after the Bears scored the opening points.
Behind a balanced attack, Kansas pulled away in the second half, building a comfortable double-digit lead.
Victoria Timm led Northern Colorado with 18 points and Whitley Cox added 14.
By quickly dropping four and five defenders on defense, Northern Colorado limited Kansas' ability to push the ball in transition.
Kansas shot 52 percent from the field for the game.
