Mo. players return after fight with cheerleader
Dec 29, 2009 - 5:08 PM COLUMBIA, Mo.(AP) -- Two Missouri women's basketball players suspended after an off-campus fight with a male cheerleader are back in action.Seniors Amanda Hanneman and Jessra Johnson came off the bench Monday night in the Tigers' 71-44 win over North Texas. The two were leading the team in scoring before their suspensions, but coach Cindy Stein told the players they had to earn playing time.
Hanneman scored five points while Johnson added eight points and nine rebounds.
The players were arrested on Dec. 11 on suspicion of misdemeanor assault after Tiger cheerleader Justin Short said he was beaten up at his off-campus apartment following a bar visit. No charges were filed.
