McCoughtry leads Louisville in rout
Mar 18, 2007 - 3:41 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Angel McCoughtry scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds as sixth-seeded Louisville cruised through the opening round of the NCAA Tournament with an 80-54 victory over No. 11 Brigham Young in the Greensboro Region.The Cardinals (27-7) next will face the winner of the Arizona State-UC-Riverside matchup in the second round Monday.
Jazz Covington added 14 points and seven rebounds for Louisville, which shot 42 percent (29-of-69) from the field.
The Cardinals took a 44-23 lead into the break after finishing the opening half on a 19-5 run.
Dani Wright had 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and seven rebounds for the Cougars (23-10), who shot 38 percent (19-of-50) and went 3-of-20 from beyond the arc.
Mallory Gillespie collected 10 points for BYU, which was outscored, 23-0, in points off turnovers.
