LSU cruises through the opening round
Mar 18, 2007 - 6:16 AM AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- Quianna Chaney and RaShonta LeBlanc each scored 15 points as third-seeded Louisiana State cruised through the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a 77-39 rout over No. 14 UNC Asheville in the Fresno Region.The Lady Tigers (27-7) will play 11th-seeded West Virginia in the second round on Monday.
LeBlanc shot 5-of-6 on 3-pointers for LSU, which shot 44 percent (29-of-66) from the field and 9-of-18 from the arc.
Sylvia Fowles had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Tigers, who outrebounded the Bulldogs, 45-35, and blocked 10 shots.
Erica White collected 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals for LSU, which forced 25 turnovers, leading to 27 points.
Katie Baldwin and Kyla Jones each scored seven points to lead UNC Asheville, which shot just 27 percent (15-of-55).
