Stricklen sends streaking Lady Vols past Arkansas

Jan 30, 2011 - 10:12 PM Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) - Shekinna Stricklen equaled her career-high with 26 points to lift fifth-ranked Tennessee to a 72-53 win over Arkansas at Bud Walton Arena.

Taber Spani provided 18 points and five rebounds while Glory Johnson supplied 12 points and a game-best 14 boards for the Lady Volunteers (21-2, 9-0 SEC), who have won 11 in a row since a December 14 setback to Baylor.

Sarah Watkins scored 15 points while C'eira Ricketts and Lyndsay Harris added 12 points apiece for the Lady Razorbacks (16-5, 4-5), who have dropped three out of their last four.

Stricklen hit four three-pointers en route to 18 first half points to help the visitors grab a 39-27 lead at the intermission. The Lady Vols scored the final eight points of the stanza and the first bucket in the second half to forge a 14-point lead.

Arkansas then scored the next 10 points to narrow the gap to four only to see Tennessee go on a 13-3 run to reassert control.

The hosts never threatened over the final 12 minutes.

Stricklen finished 10-of-15 from the field, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Tennessee hit 9-of-19 from long range while Arkansas struggled in making 5-of-22 three-point shots.
