William & Mary hires Swanson as women's hoops coach

May 7, 2013 - 7:17 PM Williamsburg, VA (Sports Network) - Ed Swanson, the Northeast Conference's all-time winningest coach, has been tabbed to take over the women's basketball program at William & Mary.

Swanson spent the previous 23 seasons as the head coach at Sacred Heart University, where he compiled a 406-264 record. The four-time NEC Coach of the Year led the Pioneers to three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Swanson's 190 NEC wins are the most in conference history.

The Tribe finished 8-22 last season.
