Notre Dame routs Clemson

Jan 5, 2014 - 9:06 PM South Bend, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Kayla McBride and Jewell Loyd netted 16 points apiece and No. 2 Notre Dame used a big second half in its 71-51 rout of Clemson on Sunday.

Natalie Achonwa added 15 points and 13 rebounds for Notre Dame (13-0, 1-0 ACC), which has won every game this season by double figures. Lindsay Allen had 11 points and a team-high four assists.

The Irish continue ACC play when they host Boston College on Thursday before going on the road for three straight.

Kelly Gramlich made all three of Clemson's 3-pointers and paced the Tigers (8-7, 0-1) with 13 points while Chancie Dunn scored 10.

Clemson's bench outscored their counterparts, 13-4.

Notre Dame held a slim 27-23 edge after the first half but turned it on in the second, extending the lead to 43-27 on a Loyd triple midway through the period. Clemson never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.
