No. 6 Maryland crushes Wake Forest
Jan 10, 2014 - 2:53 AM College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored a team- high 15 points to lead sixth-ranked Maryland to a 76-49 drubbing of Wake Forest on Thursday.Alyssa Thomas and Alicia DeVaughn added 11 points and five rebounds apiece, with Thomas also dishing out six assists, and Chloe Palech poured in 10 for the Terrapins (14-1, 2-0 ACC), who have won 12 straight since falling to top- ranked Connecticut on Nov. 15.
Dearica Hamby had 20 points and nine rebounds for the Demon Deacons, (9-6, 0-2).
Hamby's layup made it 10-9 just under seven minutes in, but it was all Maryland from there as the hosts outscored Wake Forest 28-17 over the next ten minutes before taking a 43-28 edge into the break.
The Demon Deacons closed the gap to 45-32 just moments into the second half, but a 22-6 burst put the game out of reach as the Terrapins cruised to the win.
