UConn stays undefeated as Stewart lights up Temple
Jan 29, 2014 - 2:47 AM Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Breanna Stewart scored a career-high 37 points on a torrid 15-of-19 shooting performance as No. 1 UConn shook off a slow start and pounded Temple, 93-56, at McGonigle Hall.Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis chipped in with 18 points and Bria Hartley added 16 with 11 assists as the Huskies (22-0, 9-0 AAC) rolled to their 28th straight win despite trailing by one with under eight minutes left in the first half.
The Owls (10-10, 4-5) were led by Rateska Brown's 13 points.
Stewart hit a go-ahead layup to give UConn a 24-23 lead with 7:36 remaining in the first half, and the basket sparked a 20-5 run that helped the Huskies take a 49-32 cushion into the break.
A Mosqueda-Lewis 3-pointer less than five minutes into the second half extended the margin to 63-38, and it was all Huskies from there.
