No. 6 Stanford stymies Arizona
Feb 16, 2014 - 10:50 PM Stanford, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bonnie Samuelson scored 17 points to lead sixth-ranked Stanford to 74-48 rout of Arizona on Sunday.Chiney Ogwumike netted 15 points with nine rebounds for the Cardinal (24-2, 13-1 Pac-12), who have won two straight following a loss at Washington on Feb. 9.
LaBrittney Jones paced Arizona (5-20, 1-13) with 11 points. The Wildcats only played six players total in their 13th loss over the last 14 games.
Kama Griffits made a jumper early on to stake the Wildcats to an 11-8 lead. Stanford proceeded to go on a 28-2 trek. Lili Thompson tied the game at 11 to start the surge and Samuelson capped it with a triple.
Later in the first half, Samuelson made three consecutive treys to push the lead to 45-17 and the Cardinal had a 48-19 advantage at the break.
Stanford poured it on to open the second frame to the tune of a 13-2 run which gave them a 40-point edge.
Arizona answered with a 12-4 run, but it was too late as the Wildcats couldn't overcome the large deficit.
