No. 4 Louisville handles Memphis
Feb 16, 2014 - 11:19 PM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Emmonnie Henderson scored 19 points with seven rebounds to lead No. 4 Louisville to an 82-66 win over Memphis on Sunday.Shoni Schimmel finished with 18 points and Asia Taylor chipped in with 13 points for the Cardinals (25-2, 13-1 AAC), who have won two straight since losing to UConn on Feb. 9.
Mooriah Rowser led the Tigers (11-15, 4-10) with 20 points and Ariel Hearn tallied 15 points in defeat. Memphis has dropped five straight and seven of its last eight.
Hearn made a layup to give Memphis an 8-7 lead when Louisville countered with a 17-4 run. Taylor opened the spurt with a three-point play and Schimmel capped it with a trey right after her sister, Jude, nailed a 3-pointer.
Shoni Schimmel made a jumper in the closing seconds to stake Louisville to a 41-30 halftime edge.
The Cardinals opened the second half on a 14-2 run to take a 55-32 lead after a pair of free throws from Taylor. Memphis got as close as 14 in the final minutes of the half as the Cardinals took care of the struggling Tigers.
