Top-ranked UConn routs UCF, remains unbeaten
Feb 20, 2014 - 2:41 AM Hartford, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Breanna Stewart nearly recorded a triple- double with a game-high 23 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocked shots to lead top-ranked Connecticut to an 83-35 beatdown of UCF.Stewart became the 39th member of UConn's 1,000 point club in her 63rd game. Only Maya Moore accomplished the feat faster (55 games).
Bria Hartley scored 20 points and Saniya Chong added 17 points and 10 boards for the Huskies (27-0, 14-0 AAC), who have won 17 straight games at home.
Zykira Lewis scored 11 points and Sara Djassi finished with 10 for the Knights (10-16, 3-12), losers in four of their last five games.
UConn led 15-4 early in the first half and stretched its spread to 24, 38-14, on a Stewart layup with 3:16 left the frame. The Huskies held a 46-20 lead at the break.
The Huskies coasted in the second half, outscoring UCF 37-15 over the final 20 minutes.
