No. 5 Stanford pounds Washington State
Mar 2, 2014 - 6:33 AM Stanford, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chiney Ogwumike registered 37 points with 13 rebounds to lead fifth-ranked Stanford to an 84-64 win over Washington State.Amber Orrange finished with 20 points and Bonnie Samuelson added 10 for the Cardinal (28-2, 17-1 Pac-12), who have won six straight games.
Lia Galdeira paced the Cougars (15-15, 9-9) with 16 points, while Sage Romberg and Tia Presley each scored 10 points.
A three-point play from Ogwumike triggered a 13-5 run that gave the Cardinal a 33-21 lead with just over nine minutes remaining in the first half.
The Cougars trimmed the deficit to eight by halftime, but a 10-0 Cardinal burst out of the break helped them to a 59-41 lead.
Washington State failed to get closer than 13 the rest of the way, as the Cardinal cruised to victory.
