Indiana hires Moren as women's hoops coach

Aug 10, 2014 - 1:23 AM Bloomington, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Indiana University has hired Teri Moren as head women's basketball coach, the school announced on Saturday.

Moren, a native of Seymour, Indiana, resigned as head coach at Indiana State after four seasons to take the job with the Hoosiers.

She replaces Curt Miller, who stepped down July 25 after two seasons as head coach. Miller cited health and family reasons for his decision.

Moren led Indiana State to two WNIT berths in her four seasons at the helm and the program's first 20-win season in eight years in 2013-14.

She has a career 190-130 record as a head coach, also leading the University of Indianapolis from 2000-07. She has been an assistant coach at Butler and Georgia Tech.

Moren played basketball at Seymour High School and was a two-year starter at Purdue, where she played on three NCAA Tournament teams. She was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in April.

Indiana said in a news release that athletic director Fred Glass called to offer Moren the job on Saturday afternoon "and she accepted immediately."
