Third-seeded Cards demolish BYU in first round
Mar 22, 2015 - 1:06 AM Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Myisha Hines-Allen scored 19 points and secured eight rebounds to lead her third-seeded Louisville Cardinals to a commanding 86-53 victory over the 14th-seeded BYU Cougars in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament at the Sun Dome.Jude Schimmel contributed 13 points for Louisville (26-6), while Shawnta' Dyer and Bria Smith each chipped in with 11 points off the bench in the win. Smith notched seven steals as well.
The Cardinals will move on to the second round of the tournament to face the sixth-seeded South Florida Bulls on Monday.
Morgan Bailey tallied a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead BYU (23-10). Lexi Eaton had a different kind of double-double, netting 14 points but with 11 turnovers in the loss.
BYU suffered through 30 turnovers in the defeat, which Louisville turned into 38 points. The Cardinals outscored the Cougars from the free-throw line, 27-10, and limited BYU to 1-of-11 shooting from 3-point distance.
