Bulls best Lady Tigers to advance
Mar 22, 2015 - 1:06 AM Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Courtney Williams tallied a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, and added in six assists to lead her sixth-seeded South Florida Bulls past the 11th-seeded LSU Lady Tigers, 73-64, in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament at the Sun Dome.The win means USF (27-7) advances to the second round of the tournament, where the third-seeded Louisville Cardinals are already waiting.
Alisia Jenkins scored 15 points and secured eight rebounds for the Bulls, while Maria Jespersen came off the bench to add 11 points and six boards in the victory.
Danielle Ballard netted 17 points with seven rebounds and six steals to pace LSU (17-14), while DaShawn Harden contributed 16 points. Raigyne Moncrief notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the defeat.
USF's bench helped out immensely by outscoring LSU's reserves in the contest, 26-15. The Bulls held a huge advantage from the free-throw line as well, outscoring the Lady Tigers at the charity stripe, 22-9.
