Owens, Sanni lift West Virginia in opener
Nov 10, 2007 - 2:48 AM MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (Ticker) -- LaQuita Owens scored a game-high 21 points and added four rebounds as No. 22 West Virginia defeated Canisius, 76-49, on Friday.Olayinka Sanni had 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end, for the Mountaineers. Meg Bulger scored 15 points and Chakhia Cole 10 for West Virginia.
Micayla Drysdale led the Golden Griffins (0-1) with 13 points and Brittane Russell added 11.
Canisius, which is now 0-5 all-time against ranked teams, shot 35.6 percent (16-for-45) from the field and turned the ball over 27 times.
