UAB no match for Vanderbilt in opener
Nov 10, 2007 - 3:19 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Liz Sherwood and Merideth Marsh each scored 13 points as No. 17 Vanderbilt defeated UAB, 92-51, Friday.Sherwood also had a game-high nine rebounds for the defending Southeastern Conference tournament champions. Vanderbilt is now 4-0 all-time against the Blazers.
Christina Wirth added 12 points and Amy Malo 10 for Vanderbilt, which held UAB to 16 percent shooting (4-for-25) in the first half and led, 45-14, at the break.
Diamond Rogers was the lone player for the Blazers in double figures with a game-high 23 points. Crystal McFadden, a three-year starter, had nine points for UAB in her first game since missing the entire 2006-07 season with an injury.
