Fast start sparks Pittsburgh past Arizona
Nov 11, 2007 - 12:41 AM UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- A fast start and some hot shooting by Mallorie Winn were enough for No. 20 Pittsburgh to post an 81-58 victory over Arizona on Saturday.Winn was 5-of-9 from the arc and scored 17 points and Marcedes Walker added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Pitt (2-0), which opened up a 40-15 lead at the half.
Jania Sims scored 12 points and Taneisha Harrison had 11 for the Panthers, who shot 46 percent (26-of-56) from the floor and outrebounded the Wildcats, 48-28.
Ashley Whisonant scored 19 points, 17 in the second half, and Amina Njonkou added 14 for Arizona (0-2), which has opened the season with two losses for the first time since 1994.
