Vanderbilt gets quick start, downs Furman
Nov 12, 2007 - 3:53 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth had 17 points and six rebounds to lead Vanderbilt to a 68-51 victory over Furman on Sunday.The Commodores shot 52 percent (25-of-48) from the field.
Vanderbilt (2-0) scored the game's first 14 points and shot 65 percent in the first half to jump out to a 39-23 halftime lead.
Even though the Lady Paladins nailed five of their eight 3-point attempts in the first half, Furman shot just 36 percent (16-of-44) from the field for the game and trailed by as many as 30 points midway through the second half.
Lee Stephens paced Furman (1-1) with 13 points.
