Texas gives Goestenkors convincing first win
Nov 12, 2007 - 4:05 AM AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- Brittainey Raven scored 22 points to send No. 24 Texas to a 92-55 blowout victory over Missouri State on Sunday.Carla Cortijo was one of five Longhorns in double figures with 17 points for Texas, which gave new coach Gail Goestenkors her first win for the program.
Goestenkors had built Duke into a national power, leading the Blue Devils to a 396-99 in her 15 seasons in Durham.
Texas (1-0) went on a 26-2 run during the first half and led, 41-23, at intermission. For the game, the Longhorns hit 29-of-33 free throws and forced 29 Missouri State turnovers.
Tahnee Balerio led the Lady Bears (0-1) with 20 points.
