Breland helps UNC women crush Elon
Nov 14, 2007 - 2:36 AM CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Jessica Breland came off the bench and posted a double-double as No. 6 North Carolina cruised to its third straight win, a 98-53 drubbing of Elon on Tuesday.Breland scored 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Tar Heels (3-0), rolled over their overmatched opponent.
Rashanda McCants had 16 points and seven boards and Italee Lucas added 12 points and eight assists for North Carolina, which shot 48 percent (38-of-79) from the field, forced 32 turnovers and outrebounded Elon, 53-30.
Tierra Bumbrey collected 15 points and dished out five assists for the Phoenix (1-3), who shot just 33 percent (19-of-57) for the game and trailed, 56-24, at the break.
