Parker shines as top-ranked Tennessee edges Oklahoma

Nov 16, 2007 - 6:35 AM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Candace Parker scored 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead top-ranked Tennessee to a 70-67 victory over No. 8 Oklahoma on Thursday.

Parker was 10-of-18 from the floor and was terrific on the defensive end, blocking four shots and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Shannon Bobbitt was 6-of-10 from 3-point range and scored 22 of her career-high 27 points in the second half for the Volunteers.

Tennessee (2-0) struggled in the victory, turning the ball over 19 times while making 16-of-23 free-throws. Oklahoma (0-2) couldn't capitalize on the Volunteers' mistakes, committing 22 turnovers.

Courtney Paris, who was named Player of the Year last season, scored 21 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for Oklahoma.
