Breland helps UNC roll past Coppin State
Nov 17, 2007 - 2:27 AM CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Jessica Breland had 19 points and eight rebounds off the bench to help No. 6 North Carolina coast to a 92-63 victory over Coppin State on Friday night.LaToya Pringle scored 15 points and Rashanda McCants added 13 and nine board for the Tar Heels (4-0), who shot 51 percent (37-of-73) from the floor.
With just a 50-41 bulge after the first 20 minutes, North Carolina turned up the heat in the second half, outscoring Coppin State, 42-22.
Despite the setback, Coppin State' Rashida Suber was almost unstoppable, scoring 30 points on 13-of-24 shooting - including 4-of-5 from the arc.
Jennifer Martin netted 12 points and Shalamar Oakley chipped in 11 for Coppin State (2-2), which shot 46 percent (27-of-58) and committed 25 turnovers.
