Georgia senior Barbee has surgery for season-ending injury

Feb 23, 2016 - 11:18 PM ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Georgia senior guard Shacobia Barbee, the team's second-leading scorer, has had season-ending surgery to repair a broken bone on her lower left leg.

Barbee suffered the fracture of her left distal fibula in the second half of the Lady Bulldogs' win over Florida on Sunday. Georgia coach Joni Taylor says a full recovery is expected for Barbee following Tuesday's surgery.

Barbee, who broke the same bone in her right leg last season, is averaging 12.7 points and leads the team with 9.1 rebounds per game. She is second on the team with 3.8 assists per game.

Georgia (20-7, 8-6 Southeastern Conference) has won six of its last seven games. The Lady Bulldogs play Arkansas in a home game on Thursday before closing the regular season at Tennessee on Sunday.
