Walker leads California over Saint Mary's
Dec 1, 2007 - 7:05 AM BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- Ashley Walker had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 13 California to a 77-61 victory over Saint Mary's.Rama N'diaye also had a double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds for the Golden Bears (6-1), who held a monstrous 62-32 edge on the backboards.
Cal's defense also played a big role in the victory. Saint Mary's (5-3) was 8-of-15 from 3-point range and trailed at halftime, 40-34.
In the second half, the Bears limited the Gaels to 9-of-34 shooting (26.5 percent), including 3-of-14 from the arc.
Jontelle Smith scored 22 points and Serena Benavente added 19 for Saint Mary's.
