West Virginia tops St. Bonaventure in FAU Holiday Classic
Dec 1, 2007 - 8:42 PM BOCA RATON, Florida (Ticker) -- LaQuita Owens scored 20 points as No. 16 West Virginia captured a 64-37 victory over St. Bonaventure in the first round of the FAU Holiday Classic on Saturday.The Mountaineers (6-1), who next will face Columbia on Sunday, captured their third straight win following a loss to No. 1 Tennessee on November 21.
Owens went 8-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 on 3-pointers, en route to scoring at least 20 points for the second straight game.
Chakhia Cole chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds for West Virginia, which shot 50.9 percent (28-of-55) and held a 38-28 rebounding advantage.
Dana Mitchell had 22 points for the Bonnies (5-2).
