Wirth, Vanderbilt down Saint Mary's

Dec 2, 2007 - 3:20 AM BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as No. 18 Vanderbilt topped Saint Mary's, 90-69, in the Contra Costa Times Classic on Saturday.

Wirth finished 8-of-16 from the field with two 3-pointers and six rebounds for the Commodores (7-1), who won their fifth straight game and will face host California on Sunday.

Lauren Lueders scored 13 points and Liz Sherwood, Jennifer Risper and Jessica Mooney had 12 apiece for Vanderbilt, which shot 53 percent (35-of-66), including 8-of-16 on 3-pointers.

Lauren Shaughnessy had 17 points and Serena Benavente 16 for Saint Mary's (5-4), which shot 35.3 percent (12-of-34) to fall behind 44-29 at the half.
