Gant scores 22 as Texas A&M cruises to victory

Dec 29, 2007 - 4:02 AM COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Danielle Gant scored 22 points to lead No. 12 Texas A&M to a 69-55 victory over Texas-Arlington on Friday.

It was the first game for the Aggies (10-2) since a one-point loss at George Washington on December 20. The victory extended Texas A&M's home winning streak to 24 games - longest in the nation.

Gant, a junior, also had eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Junior guard Takia Starks scored 13 points, blocked two shots and collected three steals for the Aggies. Senior forward Patrice Reado added 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks.

The win was the Aggies' ninth consecutive victory in the series. Overall, Texas A&M leads, 9-1.

Freshman Shalyn Martin and Erin Dixon each had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Mavericks (5-5), who committed 35 turnovers.

Texas-Arlington has lost four of its last six games.
