Defense provides California easy win over Washington
Dec 29, 2007 - 6:42 AM BERKELEY, California (Ticker) -- N'diaye Rama and Ashley Walker scored 13 points apiece and 11th-ranked California used some suffocating defense for a 66-40 victory over Washington in Pac-10 play on Friday.The Bears held the Huskies to 29 percent shooting (16-of-56), including 2-of-19 from the arc, forced 20 turnovers and held a 40-31 edge in the rebounds.
Rama and Walker combined to shoot 11-of-15 from the floor while teammates Alexis Gray-Lawson and Devanei Hampton added 12 points apiece each for California (10-2, 1-0 Pac-10), which shot 49 percent (27-of-55).
Sara Mosiman scored 12 points to lead Washington (5-8, 0-1), which trailed, 39-19, at the half.
