DeHaan leads Michigan State past Ohio State
Dec 30, 2007 - 8:04 PM EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Allyssa DeHaan scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds as Michigan State posted a 60-53 Big Ten Conference victory over No. 18 Ohio State on Sunday.Kalisha Keane had 17 points, six rebounds and four steals and reserve Lauren Aitch scored nine for the Spartans (9-5, 1-1 Big Ten), who outrebounded the Buckeyes, 44-35, and also had a 15-4 advantage in second-chance points.
DeHaan, who connected on 8-of-20 shots, helped first-year coach Suzy Merchant win her first game in three tries vs. a ranked opponent.
Star Allen scored 12 points and hauled in nine rebounds and Jantel Lavender and Marscilla Packer each scored 10 for Ohio State (9-3, 0-1), which lost for just the third time in its last 35 conference games.
