Charles, Moore help Connecticut romp
Jan 4, 2008 - 2:05 AM VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Tina Charles had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Maya Moore added 12, 11 and six assists as top-ranked Connecticut cruised past Villanova, 88-38, in its Big East opener on Thursday.Mel Thomas chipped in 16 points for the Huskies, who have won each of their last seven games by at least 30 points.
After the game was tied at 10-10, Connecticut (12-0, 1-0 Big East) went on a 37-5 run over the final 13:10 of the first half, taking a 47-15 lead at the break and putting the game out of reach.
Maria Getty scored 12 points to lead Villanova (10-4, 1-1), which shot just 7-of-30 (23 percent) from the arc and was outrebounded, 49-12.
