Larkins leads UNC over Virginia Tech in second half
Jan 11, 2008 - 2:37 AM BLACKSBURG, Virginia (Ticker) -- Erlana Larkins collected 22 points and 10 rebounds and Rashanda McCants added 20 and eight as third-ranked North Carolina routed Virginia Tech, 79-59, in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Thursday.LaToya Pringle had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels (15-1, 2-0 ACC), who scored 56 points in the paint and recorded 20 second-chance points.
A 6-1 forward, Larkins did much of the damage on the interior, shooting 10-of-14 from the field in 29 minutes.
McCants was 9-of-15, including 2-of-3 from the arc, for North Carolina, which outscored Virginia Tech, 42-22, in the second half to secure the victory.
Amber Hall and Brittany Cook netted 13 points apiece for the Hokies (12-5, 0-3), who shot just 36 percent (24-of-66) from the field.
