Double-doubles for Fowles as No. 11 LSU downs Vandy
Jan 14, 2008 - 1:30 AM BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Sylvia Fowles scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 11 Louisiana State defeated Vanderbilt, 62-51, on Sunday in a Southeastern Conference game.Fowles, playing in her third game back from knee surgery, went 7-for-10 from the field and also had three blocked shots and two steals.
The Lady Tigers (13-3, 2-0 SEC) held off the Commodores (12-5, 1-1) in the final six minutes after a 16-point lead was cut to five.
Quianna Chaney scored 12 points and and Erica White added 11 for LSU. Chaney added six rebounds and two blocked shots and White chipped in five assists.
Jessica Mooney scored 15 points, while Liz Sherwood collected all 13 of her points in the second half for Vanderbilt.
Hannah Tuomi added 10 points for the Commodores, who missed 14 of their first 15 field-goal attempts.
