Sanni helps West Virginia rally past Marquette
Jan 17, 2008 - 3:31 AM MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (Ticker) -- Olayinka Sanni had 21 points and 16 rebounds as No. 14 West Virginia rallied past Marquette, 68-63, in a Big East Conference contest on Wednesday.Meg Bulger scored 12 points and Chakhia Cole added 11 and six assists for the Mountaineers, who trailed by four points at the break.
West Virginia (13-3, 3-1 Big East) was still down by two early in the first half but used a 12-0 run to take a 53-43 advantage, and the Mountaineers never trailed again.
Marquette (9-7, 1-2) closed within three with two minutes remaining but Sanni and Ashley Powell combined to make 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch.
Krystal Ellis had 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles, who shot just 31 percent (9-of-29) in the second half.
