Peters inspires Notre Dame to victory over Villanova
Jan 17, 2008 - 5:59 AM SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- Devereaux Peters scored a career-high 15 points and recorded seven steals to lead No. 15 Notre Dame to a 69-59 victory over Villanova in a Big East Conference game on Wednesday.Ashley Barlow led all Notre Dame scorers with 16 points. Lindsey Schrader contributed a strong game, scoring 12 points and pulling down eight rebounds for the Fighting Irish (14-3, 2-1 Big East).
The Wildcats kept the game close throughout, but were hurt by a season-high 24 turnovers.
Notre Dame pulled away at the end of the game with superb free-throw shooting, going 17 for 18 from the stripe for the game.
Laura Kurz scored 20 points for Villanova (11-6, 1-3), which had just 21 rebounds - a Notre Dame-opponent season low.
