Pedersen, Appel lead Stanford over Arizona
Jan 18, 2008 - 5:53 AM TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) - Freshmen forward Kayla Pedersen returned to her home state and led No. 6 Stanford to an 89-64 victory over Arizona in Pac-10 action on Thursday.Pedersen led the team in scoring with 22 points, shooting 8-of-10 from the floor, and added nine rebounds.
Candice Wiggins was 3-of-8 from the 3-point line and finished with 19 points for Stanford, who led, 43-30, at the half and led by as many as 27 points in the second half. The sixth-ranked Cardinal outscored the Wildcats in the paint, 48-22.
Ashley Whisonant scored 17 points for Arizona, which shot just 37 percent (22-of-59) and committed 15 turnovers.
