Sanni goes for 22 and 15 as West Virginia beats St. John's
Jan 20, 2008 - 1:13 AM JAMAICA, New York (Ticker) -- Olayinka Sanni scored 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead 14th-ranked West Virginia to a 68-44 win over St. John's on Saturday in a Big East Conference matchup.LaQuita Owens added 15 points and Chakhia Cole and Meg Bulger added 11 apiece for the Mountaineers, who held the Red Storm to 30 percent (16-of-53) shooting in the contest en route to their third straight league win.
Up just 35-32 at the half, West Virginia (14-3, 4-1 Big East) allowed just 12 points in the second half, beginning the period on a 28-8 run.
Joy McCorvey led St. John's (10-7, 1-3) with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting. The Red Storm connected on just 1-of-12 3-point attempts and committed 21 turnovers.
