No. 22 Syracuse downs No. 24 DePaul on Jones' late FG

Jan 30, 2008 - 4:09 AM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Chandrea Jones scored 12 points, including the go-ahead basket with 12 seconds to play, as No. 22 Syracuse edged No. 24 DePaul, 69-66, in a Big East Conference game on Tuesday.

With the score tied at 66-66, Jones grabbed a rebound off a missed 3-pointer by Erica Morrow with 18 seconds to play and hit a jumper to give the Orange (17-3, 5-2 Big East) the lead.

Vionca Murray scored a team-high 17 points and had five rebounds for Syracuse, which defeated DePaul (15-5, 4-3) for the first time in three all-time meetings.

Morrow finished with 15 points and Nicole Michael chipped in 11 and seven rebounds for the Orange.

Deirdre Naughton scored a game-high 20 points for the Blue Demons, who trailed by nine points after Goodwin's two free throws with 3:49 to play gave the Orange a 64-55 lead.

Felicia Chester and Missy Mitidiero each scored 13 points and Allie Quigley added 12 for DePaul, which had a 65-64 lead before Syracuse scored five of the last six points.
