Walker helps keep Pittsburgh perfect in Big East
Jan 31, 2008 - 2:37 AM VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Marcedes Walker scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds as No. 19 Pittsburgh continued its undefeated start in Big East Conference play with a 72-63 victory over Villanova on Wednesday.Mallorie Winn had 18 points and eight rebounds and Xenia Stewart scored 14 for the Panthers (17-3, 7-0 Big East), who held a six-point lead at the half before opening up a cushion of 15 points with 5 1/2 minutes to play.
Shavonte Zellous added 13 points and seven boards for Pittsburgh, which shot 47 percent (27-of-58) and finished with a 39-33 advantage in rebounding.
Laura Kurz scored 19 points and Tia Grant chipped in 15 for the Wildcats (12-9, 2-6), who lost for the sixth time in their last eight games.
