Maryland bounces back to crush Miami
Feb 1, 2008 - 2:40 AM COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- Crystal Langhorne had 19 points and Marah Strickland added 14 as No. 5 Maryland bounced back to rout Miami, 90-50, in an Atlantic Coast Conference mismatch on Thursday.With her 19 points, Langhorne also became the first women's player at Maryland to score 2,000 career points.
The Terrapins (23-2, 7-1 ACC), who had a 12-game winning streak snapped in their double-overtime loss to No. 3 North Carolina on Saturday, broke the game open early in the first half.
Maryland went on a 30-9 run over the final 14 minutes of the first half to take a 44-23 at the intermission. The Terrapins outscored the Hurricanes, 9-2, to start the second half and were never threatened during the final 20 minutes.
Maurita Reid had 15 points to lead Miami (8-13, 1-5), which committed 24 turnovers and has now lost four straight contests.
