Wiggins, Pederson lead Stanford women past UCLA
Feb 3, 2008 - 3:08 AM PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Candice Wiggins scored 31 points and Kayla Pederson added 28 with 10 rebounds as No. 7 Stanford defeated UCLA, 75-62, on Saturday in a Pac-10 Conference matchup.Wiggins shot 9-of-20 from the floor and dished out five assists and Pederson blocked four shots and made three steals to help the Cardinals capture their seventh straight victory and avenge a 69-56 loss at UCLA on January 4.
Jayne Appel finished with nine points, 16 rebounds and five blocks for Stanford (19-3, 9-2 Pac-10), which shot 46 percent (28-of-61) en route to its 16th straight home win.
Lindsey Pluimer had 16 points and Erica Tukiainen added 11 for the Bruins (11-11, 6-5), who shot just 32 percent (21-of-65) from the field and were outrebound, 44-35, in their third straight road loss.
