Fowles, LSU cruise past Alabama
Feb 8, 2008 - 3:16 AM TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (Ticker) - Sylvia Fowles had 24 points and 11 rebounds as eighth-ranked Louisiana State coasted past Alabama, 89-53, in a Southeastern Conference rout on Thursday.Quianna Chaney added 13 points and Allison Hightower chipped in 11 for the Tigers (19-3, 8-0 SEC), who have won 10 consecutive games.
LSU forced 29 turnovers and shot 55 percent (30-of-55) from the field. The Tigers led, 43-26, at the break and by as many as 40 late in the second half.
Tierney Jenkins had 12 points and nine rebounds to pace the Crimson Tide (8-15, 1-7), who have lost seven straight games - all by double digits.
