Ajavon scores 14 to lead Rutgers over USF
Feb 17, 2008 - 5:04 AM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Matee Ajavon scored 14 points to lead No. 4 Rutgers to a 71-50 victory on Saturday over South Florida in a Big East Conference matchup.Ajavon converted on 4-of-6 shots from the field and all six free throws as Rutgers (20-4, 10-1 Big East) shot a sparkling 62 percent (26-of-42) from the floor. The guard also chipped in six assists and two steals.
Epiphanny Prince added 10 points and nine assists for the Scarlet Knights, who jumped out to a 39-30 halftime lead on the strength of 15-of-22 shooting (68 percent).
Shantia Carson scored 30 points and drained five 3-pointers for South Florida (12-12, 2-9), which shot just 29 percent (15-of-52) from the floor.
